When GoldDerby.com surveyed more than 1,300 people, the rockers known for “Long Train Runnin’,” “Listen to the Music” and “China Grove” were endorsed by 25 percent of the voters — more than double the support for any other band.
The Monkees and Foreigner tied for second with 11 percent. They were followed in order by Depeche Mode, Soundgarden, and Styx. Blood Sweat and Tears, Three Dog Night, The Commodores and The Smiths round out the Top 10. This poll only covered bands; future surveys will cover male and female solo stars.
